Allstate Insurance Reviews

When I came to the USA in 1996 and purchased a car, I had the problem that my driving insurance according to DMV was 0 and my rates would be low. I found that Farmers Insurance recognized my foreign driving experience (although I could not really prove it) - ALL others I inquired at that time wanted a yearly premium of $1200 or so for minimum coverage. My car is a Mazda 626, 1985 model, by the way. Farmers charged me about $600 a year.

A year later I found Allstate (radio commercial). I meanwhile had 1 year of driving experience - no citations - inquired their rates and switched within 10 minutes right on the phone.

Allstates rate then was about $440 for 12 months. Much better than $600.
The rate went down in the last 2 years to under $300 a year. When I hit a car in a parking lot a few months ago, I expected that my premium would skyrocket as I had heard from friends.

To my surprise, the lady on the phone pointed out that I qualified for a repeated-customer or similar discount, since I was with them for more than 12 months. She actually backdated this discount for the last 12 months. The accident brought my insurance up by $20 per year, but the discount made more than $20, so by backing into that car on the parking lot, I actually got a lower insurance premium.

Allstate is a very organized company. Any changes in your insurance come also in paper mail, but you can do everything via their website as well e.g. pay your renewal. Their customer service is excellent as you saw before :-)

The accident was processed very quickly. The other party was with Allstate as well, when I arrived at my phone 1 hour after the accident I already got a call from them and that was all I ever had to do with it.

I bought a used car in April of this year and was looking for auto insurance. I have seen those quirky commercials on TV so I thought I would go to their website and get a quote for my husband and myself.

You can get an online quote in about 15 minutes, and nobody will call you unless you ask them too. I found other insurance companies online that said they give you a quote, but then you have to leave your information and they call you back. I just never liked some high sales person calling me and trying to get me to get insurance through them.

I went through the online quote and could you believe it? Under $300 for 12 months! I did get a discount for having a 5 Year Good Driving Record.
You have an option to buy your auto insurance online right then and there, or you can call them directly.

They have a variety of different payment schedule's you can use:

Pay in Full
Pay Two Payments
Pay Three Payments
Pay 4 payments

Most car insurance coverage is for 6 months.

I use the pay for 4 months and then I don't have to worry about it for 2 months. I currently moved to a new state and called then to tell them. Customer Service is very prompt and courteous. They immediately changed my rates to fit where I now live. (It went down to about $150 a year, no kidding!) They also sent me new insurance cards with my new address on them very quickly.

Allstate's website (http://www.allstate.com) is an excellent resource for finding answers to any questions you might have about Allstate. They have an extremely comprehensive FAQ on the site with just about every question you can think of.

I would never use another insurance company for my car insurance. Allstate is definitely the least expensive insurance around.

Allstate Direct is one of the nation’s best- known insurance carriers. With coverage for automobiles, home, motorcycles, and boats, Allstate has a service to satisfy many of your basic insurance needs. This insurance company was founded in 1936 and it has been assisting individuals with financial difficulties when disasters arise for more then 65 years.

Auto insurance is a requirement in many states. Some states will not renew your license without insurance and if you purchase a car from a dealership, you usually have to provide proof of insurance before you can drive away. I have used several insurance carriers over the years, and my recent inquires have led me to Allstate. I have received many solicitations from this company so it was time to find out if Allstate really could save me as much money as it claimed.

Coverage Options:

Allstate offers many different auto insurance coverage options. Besides the basic liability coverage that many drivers need to satisfy state requirements, Allstate offers insurance for bodily injury, comprehensive physical damage, collision, medical coverage, property damage, rental car reimbursement, and uninsured motorists.

If you call or use the Allstate web site to get a quote, the customer service reps will help design the best overall insurance package for your needs. Not everyone needs all the coverage options listed above. Allstate helps its customers decide which ones are worth the money and which ones are not, based on the specific needs of the individual.

Methods of Payment:

Allstate offers a flexible payment plan. You can choose to make your payments monthly or semi- annually. Payments to Allstate can be made by credit card, by check, or by authorizing Allstate to withdraw the funds automatically from your checking or savings account.

Customer Service:

Allstate has many different phone numbers to call when you need assistance. If you want to get a free quote, or if you have a question about the available discounts (like for having multiple vehicles covered under the same policy, by owning a car with anti- lock brakes, etc.), then the number to call is 800-861-8380. If you need emergency roadside assistance, you can call the number provided to you from Allstate (note: this service costs a little extra per month and the phone number varies by location). If you have already had roadside service and would like to be reimbursed for your expenses, then call 800-522-7775.

If you have a claim, you can call Allstate at 877- 206- 0215. Allstate claims reps are available 24 hours per day to help you when you have an accident. If you have a little more time on your hands, you can file a claim on- line by logging into allstate.com and selecting the policy holders service center. You can enter all the relevant info relating to your accident and then wait for a response.

If you have general questions about Allstate, you can find answers by either calling the toll- free number, 800-861-8380, or by sending an e-mail to ratequotes@allstate.com.

Final Thoughts:

Allstate is one of the most heavily advertised of all insurance companies. Each day, as I flip back and forth between television channels, I can expect to see at least one advertisement for Allstate. The company also places ads strategically in magazines and newspapers, but not with the frequency that it places ads on television.

I once used Allstate many years ago, when I purchased my first car. As a college student, I didn’t have much spare cash so I wanted the absolute lowest rates I could find. Also, since I didn’t own a very nice car, I decided to select only the minimum coverage- liability coverage. With funds as tight as they were, and with my minimal amount of driving, liability coverage was enough for me. I can remember how impressed I was back then that Allstate didn’t try to push me to buy other products or treat me with disrespect because I was young (I have had some bad experiences with other insurance providers in the past who talked down to me because of my age. I dropped them promptly). Allstate satisfied my needs back then, so I felt it was only fair to give them another chance today.

I was impressed by the courtesy and helpful attitude shown by Allstate’s staff. Just like in the past, Allstate sales representatives didn’t try to pressure me to buy unwanted products. They asked me one time if I wanted some of the additional services, and I only needed to answer “no” once. They didn’t ask again. This type of respectful service is important to me. But what is most important is the prices for coverage. After crunching through some numbers over the phone, Allstate came up with a price quote that was about $130 less per year than my present carrier. This works out to about $11 per month. This is not a gigantic sum of cash, by any means. But it still represents a savings for an identical service. It’s an attractive offer.

Another thing I like about Allstate is the 24- hour service for filing claims and for getting roadside assistance. I have been in wrecks before (where I was hit- I haven’t caused an accident yet, knock on wood) and I have had some trouble getting through for help because it was late in the day. After filling out paperwork with the police, I tried to call the insurance company, but all I got was a recorded message. The claim was eventually handled in reasonable time. But I would have preferred to hear a live voice when I called, not only to get the claims process moving faster, but also to gain some peace of mind. When you have experienced a car wreck, hearing the direct reassurances of a claims representative can really help settle one’s nerves.

Auto insurance is a necessary evil for anyone who owns and drives a vehicle. I have had experiences with many different auto insurance companies over the years, answering solicitations for quotes, responding to cold calls, and filing claims when another individual hit my car and didn’t have any insurance coverage. Compared to the rest of the pack, Allstate is a very good company and a cut above the competition. The Allstate advertisements that are so commonplace on television are really being truthful when they say that Allstate can save you some money. Lower than average prices, friendly service, and quick response to claims makes Allstate a winner in my book.

We have been loyal Allstate policy holders since 1994. In that time we've only had to make a claim once.

A few months ago my husband wrecked his Jeep. It was about $3500 in damage on a 1998 Wrangler. We had expensive aftermarket stuff, such as a lift suspension kit get damage in the accident. The only thing we had to pay was out deductible! They covered EVERYTHING! And I mean EVERYTHING! They even paid for shipping on a new lift kit and paid for it to be installed. The frame was bent and a new fender needed to be put on and painted. I was surprised they paid for the lift kit as it was an aftermarket item but they gave us no problems.

The insurance adjuster was curteous and prompt in getting our claim put through. He talked with us and with the various garages that did the work for us. Our jeep was back on the road in a month. This might seem like a long time but with all the damage and the various different places that were involved in fixing the jeep it really wasn't.

After the accident I figured our policy premium would go up a lot. It didn't. It only went up a couple dollars a month! We have never actually shopped around to see if we can get a better rate with a different company so I don't know if the rate we have is great but compared to friends and family in our area I think we are getting a great deal for the money we spend.

I highly recommend Allstate. They were there when we needed them and went above and beyond the call of duty!

I have had auto insurance from several different companies, and I had never really put thought into which company I was with. To me it was a necessary evil purchased only to satisfy a law.

This all changed one rainy night in February 1999 when I hit a large black cow in the middle of the road while driving 65 m.p.h. (the legal limit on that road). My car had a mashed front end, shattered windshield, and mangled doors. In a word--totaled.

I was worried, as this car had only been added to our Allstate account four days before the accident. The first check I wrote to the company after adding it hadn't even been cashed. I thought that they would find a way not to cover me and we would be in trouble, but I was very wrong.

The customer service people at Allstate could not have been more friendly, helpful, or prompt. They had the car towed from our house (only 1 mile from accident scene--we were able to limp it home) within two days of the accident. It was immediately evident that the car would have to be totaled, and the claims adjuster called us that same day.

Within one week our claim had been settled more than fairly. The settlement, after our deductible ($500), was just enough to pay off what we still owed on the car. I felt this was quite generous, as the listed value of the car was much lower.

Allstate was even willing to reimburse us for the cost of replacing the two car seats which were in the car at the time of the accident.

Oh, did I mention that our premiums didn't go up a penny? Because the accident was not considered to be my fault we didn't have to pay higher premiums.

I have shopped around and found other companies that offer insurance for a little less money, but I would never switch. No small savings can make up for the security I feel knowing that if I ever have an accident again I will be taken care of quickly and fairly.

I am a twenty one year old driving a plum, 1999, Pontiac Grand Am GT. I don't have any accidents on my record and I also took a driving safety class during my high school years. You can imagine the rates most insurance companies gave me.

Before I got my new car I was driving a 1991 red Chevy Berretta GT. I was paying 1200 every six months for my insurance. That is not a lie. That is one of the reason I got my new car. Driving a sports car with two doors, a sunroof, and no air bags is a great big insurance expense.

Before my husband and I were married he decided it was time for him to find a good rate for his car insurance. He was paying 700 every six months. Now keep in mind our area, Michigan, has a high insurance rate. That is why a lot of rates are different. When he switched to allstate his rates went down 200 dollars. I was excited but we decided I wouldn't switch until we got married so the rates wouldn't be so high. When the day came and we put both vehicles together on our insurance we were so amazed with the rate we got. No other insurance company can match it and believe me every three months or so we check to make sure we are getting a great deal.

The rates aren't the only great thing about our policy. I will admit we did have some problems awhile back because they had a problem with Michigan and didn't send out a bill so we owed double the next month. But if you take into account saving for that month it really didn't put a dent into our account. I would say that is the worst problem we have had. It has happened twice but we have been assured that it will not happen again. How can we count on this? She gave us her number and told us to call her anytime we needed her help. We have and she was right there for us helping us out.

Now maybe you are saying you haven't been in an accident so how do you know about how they handle things? Well, no I haven't been in an accident driving my car but I was hit with damaging hail. It happened three months after I got my new car. Both my car and my husbands’ car were damaged. I was devastated. We called allstate that night. They were able to set up a time with an auto body shop that night for the next day. They handle all of our problems and paid the bill, minus the deductible. I will say I was shocked my damage was over 5,000 dollars and my husbands were something like 3,800. That is a lot of money and we only had to pay 250 for each vehicle. Our rates never increased and the bill was paid immediately after the auto body shop sent it. After that we have decided that we really like allstate and plan to stay with them. As long as their rates stay so low.

I should also add we are getting a great deal but we are also considered high risk. My husband is 23 and I am 21. I believe the age when rates drop is 25 so I can't wait until then so we can watch our rates go down even more.
