If you purchase these products you are often buying insurance, also called Extended Service Contracts. We strongly suggests that if you choose to buy an extended warranty, then carefully choose the company providing you that coverage. Their services vary greatly.

Tips for choosing an auto warranty

• Shop around, call, fax or email a company that you may have interest in. Discuss with them in detail what you want. Ensure that you feel comfortable with the company and confident that you will get what you are paying for.
• If you buy online, ensure that your connection is secure.
• If you are buying a car from a new or pre-owned car dealer you may be able to negotiate extended coverage into your purchase. If you cannot get the entire cost of extended coverage in your purchase you may be able to get at least some or most of that cost.
• Many new vehicles come with long and extensive warranties designed to cover all or much of the car for many years. Think carefully about whether you need extended coverage.
• The purchase of a pre-owned car doesn't always mean that there isn't any of the original factory warranty left on that car . Be sure to check with the salesperson.
• You may be able to extend an existing factory warranty through a dealer or third party. Ask the question!
